ITN Code Questions
 

On ITN, if you DO NOT select advanced settings (that's where you see fares like so: F7 C7 J7 A7 B7 C7 D7 etc), you see something like the following:

First WL, Biz WL, Coach Y
First Y, Biz WL, Coach Y

Basically, your choices are:
First (if such cabin): Y or WL
Biz (if such cabin): Y or WL
Coach: Y or WL

What is the difference between Y and WL. Does WL stand for wait-list?

Bingo. You got it. Waitlist.

So that means that there are no seats in said cabin (say biz), so you book coach and will "upgrade" to Biz if something opens up?

yes, but nothing automatically--you or your tvl agent need to get u on the waitlist.

By the way, why go onto ITN without doing it expert--

I was doing a real quick flight search, and didn't take the time to login. I just noticed this, I've never noticed this before as I log in as expert, so I was wondering what it meant.

ITN won't book you if it can't confirm you, and they do not put you on waitlists. You need a live travel agent or airline agent for that.
