Seattle Question
 

I did not find this posted before...

I am planning a trip to ANC in a couple of weeks and of course flying through SEA. I would like to spend a day in Seattle, and do the Boeing tour, etc. However my flight would arrive into SEA at 5am. Has anyone done this before, or is there a hotel that I could use to get a couple of hours rest??

try searching for posts in the last 60-90 days. I recall 2 topics on what to do there.

I am not looking for stuff to do, I found those. I am looking for a place to crash for a couple of hours. My flight would leave ANC at 12:45am and arrive at SEA at 5:00am. I would have not had a hotel the night before, due to the 12am flight, but am looking for something to crash at from 6-9am ish.

Some cheap but o.k. motels. Travelodges (1 at each end of the airport) and an Econolodge though you'd probably have to pull for the full night ($40+). If you have eyeshades and ear plugs, I could recommend a safe, quiet corner of the airport (baggage claim area, north end) where you can sleep on the benches (had to do this due to late arrivals and for early morning and missed connections a few times) and where the incessant public safety announcements do not reach for whatever reason.

There are many inexpensive hotels near the airport. I'm sure you shouldnt have trouble finding a decently priced room.

Does United have a Red Carpet Club at SEA? AA has an Admirals Club; I know I could snooze there for the timeframe you suggest.

Good Luck! Enjoy the Boeing tour; it is first rate. They have a store with some cool souvenirs. Bring money.....very costly.

SEA has a red carpet club, it's fairly small and I don't think there are any sofas - it seems to be all single seats. It's being renovated and different parts are being closed at different times. If you are REALLY TIRED you could probably get an hour or two of sleep there.

As for the Gray Line - that's interesting, it seems like they guarantee you a ticket. I guess they must have a charter tour deal with Boeing. If you rent a car and do it yourself, you should have no trouble getting a ticket for that day if you get there by 9 or 10. Keep in mind it's a 30-40 minute drive from downtown with no traffic, and it puts you the opposite direction from the airport (about 90 minutes from the airport) Here is the Boeing tour official web site: http://www.boeing.com/companyoffices/aboutus/tours/

Also call their number the day of the tour and make sure that they are operating that day. Sometimes they close down for a VIP tour for the day.

The following hotels are within walking distance (less than 1/4 mile) and I am sure they all have shuttle buses too:

Doubletree Seatac Airport
Wyndham Hotel
West Coast hotels (2)

These are the easiest to get to and the closest, and walking is not a problem, there are sidewalks and cross walks and it is safe even at 5 am. Cost I am not so sure about. My choice would be the Doubletree (former Red Lion) but I don't know how much you want to spend for a few hours sleep.
