Fewer seasoned veterans in the cockpit

So far, though, there isn’t any evidence that possible lack of experience has posed any safety problems at either major or regional airlines. That could be because these carriers generally have the resources to provide extra training themselves, and they typically pair junior fliers with more seasoned veterans in the cockpit.
But some smaller aviation companies say they have already seen skills of new hires diminish. “It’s the chicken-and-egg theory,” says Craig Washka, director of pilot recruiting at AirNet Systems Inc., a small-package courier service. “If you take away all the good instructors, are you going to get good pilots?”
