Very nice surprise in a FedEx package ...
Got home from work today and there was a notice on the door saying FedEx tried to deliver a package. Neither Nancy or I were expecting anything and FedEx doesn't list the sender on their slips.
I drive over to the FedEx office after dinner and pick up the package. Standard letter envelope, very thin from "Interactive Games" addressed to me. I have no idea what it is ... I open it up once outside and pull out a letter and three stapled sheets of paper. National Rent-a-car logo on the letter ... I've never rented from them. Boy was I surprised: Dear Thomas, Congratulations!! By visiting National Car Rental's internet site and entering the "Go-Online" sweepstakes you have been selected the Grand Prize winner. <snip legal jibberish>, you have one the following: United Airlines round trip domestic coach tickets for two <snip the rest of the boring stuff> WOOO HOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not too bad for filling out a form ... then of course I fill out one a day or so on average probably, but it was a very nice surprise! The only downside: I have to fly United http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif At least I get RCC access with my CRC membership. |
You da Man!!! Congratulations!
|
AWESOME!!! If you choose to visit Seattle, I'll give you the grand tour.

Beckles...congrats!! Does "domestic" in this case include Hawaii...as in Party In Paradise? http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
I never win anything. http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif [This message has been edited by PremEx (edited 06-23-1999).] |
I always win (flyertalk-friends). Double your luck now - make it to the PiP!
|
Bingo!!!...congratulation Beckles...one winner on board http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif... tell us to where u wanna go
Good Luck |
Congrats!!
Incidentally, I just yesterday received in the mail the spring issue of National Car Rental's "Emerald Extra" newsletter, announcing the contest you won, and stating entries must be in by June 15th. Maybe you won because you were the only one who entered? http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |
Congrats! Can you earn miles with those tix and will you choose UA or DL miles?
DL I'll bet. Jim |
Congrats, ya lucky ......., ya. And even if that ticket wont get you to Hawaii, it WILL get you to LAX or SFO, where tix to Hawaii can be had for a song!
|
In the letter it only said "domestic", but the website still has the rules posted and it says they are for the "48 states from Mileage Plus", which means two things:
1) No Hawaii http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif 2) Since they're "Mileage Plus" tickets most likely no miles http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif Oh well, you can't win 'em all! BTW, if I do fly on United in the next year I most certainly will take UA miles ... UA miles + HHonors points! Besides, I always take the miles on whatever airline I'm flying, because I never know when I'm going to move and have to switch preferred carriers! Obviously I want to make these tickets count ... so I'm thinking Seattle or California ... [This message has been edited by Beckles (edited 06-24-1999).] |
congratulations, Beckles.
i, like NJDavid, just received the spring issue of NCR's "Emerald Extra" newsletter in the mail, stating entries must be in by June 15th, so i didn't get a chance to enter, either. fyi, in that same package is a coupon for northwest airline discounts (also expiring jun15). do not throw out that coupon!! northwest has agreed to extend the coupon until aug15 since we didn't receive it until after it expired... |
I had a similar experience to Beckles earlier this year, my Fed-Ex letter was from D.L Blair, a company administering a "Weekends on Us Sweepstakes" from my Chase Visa - OnePass affinity card. I did't remember anything about the contest, but the prize was a refund of the charges during my lucky weekend, $482.
Congratulations Beckles, doesn't it feel good! [This message has been edited by Old Gold (edited 06-24-1999).] |
http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif free tickets
http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif no miles p.s. I'm still waiting to hear from Food.com that I won the tickets to anywhere in the world for dinner. Maybe there's a package on my doorstep right now! |
Congratulations Beckles. I never win anything either. I will have to rub you for luck when I meet you! http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Congrats to Beckles and Old Gold. You are so very lucky indeed! All I got was a letter offering me a job stuffing envelops for $150K!
