Anyone know how the food and roms are like at the Sheratons in the airport area of Saint Louis area? Which is better? Any other recommendations?

I've stayed at two Sheratons at the near-by Westport Plaza (about 12 minutes from the airport). Are those the hotels you're talking about?

As far as hotels AT the airport, I know there is a Hilton, Renaissance, Marriott, and a couple others. Of course, "at the airport" in St. Louis is defined as a short shuttle ride across the interstate.

I stay at the Sheraton's in St Louis quite often. They are very nice, I personally prefer the lakeside chalet as opposed to the plaza. Westport has about 10 resturants, all within 500 feet of the 2 sheraton hotels, this is in addition to the hotel restaurants.

On Friday night, the sheraton lakeside does a nice seafood buffet for 15.95.

The Chalet is a very charming, of course the canadian geese can generate a bit of noise, but I still love the rooms with balconys overlooking the lake.

With all the restuarants at westport you'll have no problem finding places to eat.

Westport is about 10 miles from the airport, the sheraton's offer a shuttle service to/from the airport as well as to the westport area.

The rooms are nice, the best seem to be in the tower portion of the chalet.

Thanks for the information. Do you think the Sheratons are better than the other nearby "airport" hotels?

St Louis is NOT one of those places where it is difficult to find a decent place to stay at the airport. I usually prefer the Marriott wich is right on site or the Hilton whcih is on the way into town (Woodson Terrace, I think). For my limited experience and what I've heard, most all of these places are relatively equal among the major chains- nothing truly outstanding or really to complain seriously about.

BTW- using the above sypplied definition of airport hotels, I'd go to the Ritz Carlton St Louis in Clayton!

hulagirl, as much as I hate to admit it, I have stayed at 3 of STL's airport properties (Renaissance, Hilton, and Marriott). The Renaissance (which used to be a Stouffer) is hands down the best of these 3 hotels. If you don't have to absolutely stay at the airport, I would suggest the Ritz-Carlton St. Louis. Don't forget to hit the restaurants on Euclid.

Another option is the Radisson not too far away. Very scenic inside and it contains a Fridays(think Gold Card) but not much else around within walking distance. Of course you can usually get a good deal at Harrah's
hotel on MO river with casino thrown in for free. It is about 15 minute drive away from airport toward the west.
