I don't know if this is in operation yet, but Singapore announced plans (sometime back in May I think) for a nonstop from Singapore to LAX and SFO. They mentioned it'd be 17+ hours or so.

Oh, just found the link on BBC:

UA 895 from ORD to HKG is 15:55 between departure and landing in a 747/400.

The Dubai flight posted above was only 14:20.

It always is a question between mileage and time...the contenders are always

JFK-CPT
MIA-JNB
LAX/SFO-SYD
MCO-RUH (in Saudi Arabian's timetable, nonstop both directions once a week over the summer)
ORD-HKG (I am pretty sure this is UA's longest flight--it takes off over my house near ORD)
LAX-TLV
YYZ-HKG (I think that CX does it nonstop in one direction during part of the year)
JFK-TPE (ditto HKG)

BBC Link:

"Singapore girls fly the longest"

Wonder what this BBC editor had in mind. Do Singapore "boys" fly any shorter? Oh well, it was an attention getter..

From the current OAG Flight Disk

jfk-cpt--only connections
mia-jnb --only connections
lax-syd 14:50, sfo is 14:25
lax-tlv--only connections
YYZ-HKG--only connections
JFK-HKG or TPE-only connections

United's longest flight is UA895, at 7787 nmi and 15:55 flight time. I don't know for sure, but I haven't found anything longer out there. If there is something longer, then it can't be longer by much because you are pushing the maximum design range of the longest commercial airplanes out there (747-400 at about 8380 nmi or 777-200IGW at 8860 nmi).

The new non stop LAX-MEL is 7915 miles.
JFK-JNB is 7963 miles but they only fly non-stop from JFK-JNB, the other way it makes one stop.

sorry was confused about capetown versus JNB. Try MIA/CPT or JFK-JNB.
