Back when I used to fly coach I used to take a little jar of caviar with me and eat it on the flight. It's only $5 and you should have seen some of the expressions on people's faces...

Basically the theme of this thread is that we should eat "comfort food" whenever and whereever we want.

And I think we should make Krispe Kreame the official donut of the Flyertalkers.

Brian: next time you are in NYC let's go to that Krispie Kreame and have a dozen or two and wash it down with favorite beverage.

Catman,

I am right there with you! I will bring a bag of Goldfish for dessert. (!)

Ontherun: Old Bay! Yes.

My Old Bay combo: White corn on the cob, rolled in lime juice and sprinkled with Old Bay. Summer's delight. http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

geo1004,
Add a dozen or two steamed and (Old Bay) spiced Maryland blue crabs, a couple of frosty iced bottles of your favorite malted beverage to that corn...throw in a summer saturday afternoon on the deck by the Bay with close friends.....Ahhhh is this heaven?

geo1004 Aug 17, 1999 7:06 am

ontherun: Can you say "The Crab Claw" in St. Michaels, MD?????
Omni: For those not familiar with the Chesapeake Bay region, the blue crab is as sacred to us as chocolates are to Rudi and his fellow Swiss.

from a native 'Baltimoron' who has eaten more than his share of steamed crabs (& beer)... http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

as I can't eat seafood - but don't worry I find alternatives even in seafood specialized Restarants - when I am in San Francisco out of chocolates (or ice-cream) Ghirardelli (-Center) isn't far away.

Romeo y Julietta Deluxe Cedros #3 (Habanos, of course).

In lieu of that....PEZ!

PremEx,

I beg to differ . . . Ashton Maduro #60. http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Failing that, cherry or grape Pez, dispensed from my world class collection (nearing the 200 threshold).

Catman Aug 19, 1999 3:00 pm

Do they have PEZ heads in the shape of cats?

that would go nicely with my growing collection in Modern Cat Hair!

OH! and two more things I always take with me:

*My folder of Frequent flyer cards.
*My little card explaining the hands of blackjack in case I came near vegas or another casino place.

PremEx Aug 19, 1999 3:07 pm

Essxjay, a fine smoke for sure. Also enjoy Padron 3000 Maduro or anything in the Anniverario line.

Cherry Pez is the best without doubt. Also the hardest to find here on the Left Coast. The only way you can get it is in the Rainbow Assortment and even then you have to pray you get at least one per pack (orange seeming to be the most prevalant flavor).

I have no time for dispensers. I mainline 'em right out of the foil!

What a sight that would be...a guy popping Pez from a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Pez dispenser in one hand, and a fine Cuban cigar in the other! http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Catman, what do you (or others reading) use for your FF cards? I've traditionally kept them in a business-card folder (the plastic 3-up or 4-up kind), but I'm not sure I want the extra thickness of the covers.

As I stuff more and more FF cards into my wallet each trip, I think "there has to be a better way!". And the pile gets thicker every time someone switches to thick embossed cards.

Thanks!
andrew

PremEx, Cherry Pez is available as a single pack flavor all over Europe, where the best Pez are to be found.

Had a Padron 1964 Anniversario, appopriately enough, on my birthday a few weeks ago. I'm quite fond of the Romeo y Julietas, too. Brought some of the Habanas back from Barcelona last Christmas. Worth every ounce of sweat passing through customs. http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif Don Mellos also kick fanny.

Catman, there's a whole series of Garfield Pez, plus Slyvester, Pink Panther and a generic cat. And maybe a Felix - the most wonderful cat of all!

While my collection of FF cards must pale in comparison to some folks here, I use two wallets.

My "master" wallet of cards stays home. Before each trip, I remove the cards from the master wallet and place it in my "travel" wallet (a faux-leather ticket holder I got from Continental). The last item in the travel wallet is simply a list on a 2x3 card of the programs and my FF #.

It works very well for me, takes only a minute or two to organize, and reduces the stuff I need to bring with me on the road.
