Dial arounds in hotels?
Has anyone here tried to use a dial around telephone access code from a hotel?
Are these blocked? If not, how would the biling work? If these worked, assuming the hotel guest is billed the standard dial around rate, this would provide a major savings ober standard hotel Long distance charges |
Boomer, Good question. I have never tried it, but I suspect the "10-10-XXX" codes are either blocked or would revert to the Hotel LD charge scheme. This would be interesting to try.

I'm tempted to try, but not knowing what the charge would be I'm cautious.

I don't think you'd need to complete the call to find out. If the 10-10-xxx lets you dial a LD number, hang up if it starts to ring.
If you get a recording or message then it probably won't work. |
Even if it did work, I don't know what your motivation would be. Hotel LD billing systems are completely seperate from the telephone company's. You'd still be billed at the regular rate, even if the dial-around worked. Of course the possibility of the system recognizing the call as local and not billing it exists...
