You are both correct. I am moving to London but am planning to stop for a month in San Francisco to go sailing, and visit my fiancee, mother and old friends.

On CO, you can earn more miles by booking one way tickets vs. round trips.

Using CO on-line booking, you earn a 1,000 mile bonus for every ticket booked. So 2 one way tickets gets you 2,000 miles.

And now, CO is running a special offer - if you book on-line, and use the AmEx card, you get an extra 3,000 miles per ticket. That takes us to an 8,000 mile bonus for booking 2 one-ways on-line with the AmEx card.

My next trip SFO-CLE-HPN then HPN-CLE-SFO is going to end up yielding 19K OnePass miles (including Platinum elite bonus), plus Delta SkyMiles (for using the AmEx card to buy the ticket). Not too shabby.

Consider what happens when you use ff tickets. One way or round trip, SAME COST!

ranles,

That is not always true. For international upgrades awards are one way.

International upgrade awards are round trip on DL (as opposed to Medallion systemwide upgrades).
