Hampton Inns Travellers Advisory
 

While travelling to and through the "Heartland of America", AVOID, by all means, the Hampton Inn, in Blue Springs, Missouri, located at Exit 29, off the Interstate #70. (Just East of Kansas City).

We were robbed in broad daylight at 6 o'clock on a late Summer's evening after having just checked in. The "housing" complex immediately behind the hotel is filled with Low and No Income creatures. They prey on unsuspecting travellers. They broke out the windows on our Jeep and stole everything -- leaving us with the clothing on our backs and our toothbrushes. The Police were called and they said we were lucky that we were not shot dead by our vehicle. It is all about guns, and drugs and money. There are 50 of these robberies in Blue Springs, Mo. every week. The police have their hands full. Please pass this along to everyone you know.

Thanks for your advisory. We should actually have a forum for such occurences. This will help fellow travelers avoid these places.

"Tourist Traps" doesn't seem like the appropriate forum for this.

Also, the title of the thread is VERY misleading. The complaint is about a specific location, NOT about Hampton Inns in general.

"security"?

AFAIK there is no named moderator for this forum (meaning it's Randy, I guess).

Travel Safety while appealing as a possible place is really not the right forum, either. It's description says "Safety and security measures put in place after the events of 9/11"

And while there are travel safety discussions with some regularity in Women Travelers....

... individual hotel property reviews/warnings are usually placed in their brand's forum. So in this case, presumably Hilton.
