Can anyone suggest a good listing of B&B's in Washington state and Oregon, USA?

Or, any particular B&B's in Spokane and Portland?

probably the best thing about the site is that you can purchase a book from ahi at the website. the book contains descriptions of b&bs throughout the us [and some in canada] PLUS the book contains a certificate allowing you to get one night FREE at one of the b&bs in the book when you pay for a second night's stay. in addition, the book also often lists "things to do in the area" while staying at the b&b. and, you can research the b&b you desire by going to its website [provided in the book].

since the book only costs $16.xx + s&h, you can save significant dollars at some of the pricier listings.

three caveats - (a) not all the sites listed on the web participate in the "one night free with certificate" program - read the fine print closely. (b) read the information on your b&b in the book carefully - most have seasons or blackout dates. (c)if you intend to buy several books, to present to business clients, friends, or relatives as gifts, make your gift-giving early in the year. the certificate expires december 31 of each year, so it would be of small use if you give one as an anniversary present to a friend on, say, december 10.

I highly suggest that you look for a B&B that is a member of "Select Registry". This is one,if not the only, group that actually independently visits its listings for approvals. Not all great B&B's are listed, but all of their's are very good. B&B's ,as I have sadly experienced, run the gamut from great to frightening (I could tell you some stories).

Pick up the latest copy of "Best Places in the Northwest". It is what we locals use to find the best inns, food and fun. It should be available online somehow but we buy one every few year. The selected inns and restaurants are always a good bet.
