On an upcoming flight, for business class, I paid $5.90 and a bunch of points I have laying around because I signed up for a FF program and also got some bonus CC miles. Other people have paid about $1200 cash for economy on the same flight. One might choose the latter out of a Quaker-like principle that no one should fly in luxury, but being thrifty it is not.

And I also think that if a major travel influencer advocates that there should be no business class, it it reasonable for people to care about that.

How many "bunch of points"?

80K on this instance. Argument can be made that points have value, but not if you don’t sign up for a FF program. I seem to generate them faster than I can use them.

Exactly right.

Moderator Note: I was just about to quote FT Rule 12, and guv1976 has beat me to it. This thread is now closed.
