How do US airlines retaliate for filing DOT/FAA complaints or lawsuit

Plenty of people who post airline-related problems on Flyertalk are told, “file a Department of Transportation/Federal Aviation Administration complaint”, and passengers do file lawsuits against airlines.

Questions: How do US airlines retaliate against passengers who file DOT/FAA complaints and lawsuits?

Do US airlines, for example, put such passengers on “no fly” lists, revoke elite frequent-flyer status or do something else?

Thanks.

I filed a DOT complaint about United a few years ago. Nothing happened other than getting a letter about the results of their investigation. The airline did not retaliate.

Although the OP only asked about US Airlines, the DOT also handles complaints against foreign airlines in certain situations. My experience with a DOT complaint against Iberia is described here:

Iberia agrees to refund improperly-collected PFCs on certain redemption tickets.

Not only were the improper fees Iberia charged me refunded, but Iberia also awarded me 10,000 bonus Avios for my trouble!
