I was trying to remember how long it had been since I had been to Mexico since I have a flight transiting CUN next month, and realized it had been quite a while since I'd been there. I didn't see a thread on this topic with a quick search, so mods, please merge if there is one. As you can tell, my international travel has fallen off somewhat recently with job changes and having a child (and Covid), but I thought it might be interesting to see others' patterns, or at least their travels from long ago.

Romania and Russia were the earliest countries I went to for the first time (both in 2006) and haven't returned to, followed by Tunisia and Afghanistan in 2007. Been to 81 countries, 36 of 'em only once.

I've been many places multiple times. This is just the most recent year for each country on my list. First country visited was Mexico in 1988.

I suppose, of the countries that I have visited multiple times but not recently, it would have to be Greece. It was the epitome of the three sss holidays but I have grown out of that and simply enjoy it vicariously by watching Mamma Mia. Otherwise I do make a point of revisiting favourites and trying out new one-offs.

Of the 50-60 countries I've been to, the one I've been to the least recently is Russia, February 1993.

It seems unlikely that I'm returning to Russia anytime soon. Would love to see Lake Baikal one day but not with the current regime in power.

I have not been to Italy or Ireland since the 20th century. Way overdue.

How many countries have you been to in excess of 10 times or 10 weeks total duration? For me, it might only be 5 countries. About 85% of countries that I've been to has been fewer than 10 times and less than 10 weeks total duration.

>10 weeks for me would only be four: the UK, Italy, Canada, and France. Five if you count Wales and England separately, I've spent about 2 months in England and almost a year in Wales.

I'm sure I've transited Germany far more than 10 times but only have spent maybe 2-3 total weeks there in my life. Flying *A for many years, you can't avoid FRA and MUC... Have had about 4 total trips where we actually spent time in the country.

Actually none for me. I have been to Canada and the UK 9 times each. Next highest is Singapore with 7 visits.
