This is subject to change we things progress, but what countries have the most passengers flying right now? I wonder who's air travel network will get back to some semblance of normalcy first? CARES Act has meant planes have to keep flying here, but only the TSA daily numbers show us who is actually going somewhere. Does anyone have insight or thoughts on what we might see in the coming weeks or months? It's all a guess for everyone, but wondering what others thought.

Hi,

I would think either the USA or China would have the most number of pax flying (majority being domestically) as they have large populations and easing off the lockdown restrictions ( the middle east carriers still have limited services. ). As Europe begins to ease travel restrictions then intra-europe travel should increase ( similar to US-EU/UK flights)

Regards

Flights or passengers?

US has historically been 1.5-2x China, which is 3x anyone else. I don't think US travel has shrunk enough, relative to elsewhere, where it would no longer be first.

registered carrier departures (2018)

1 United States 9,879,630
2 China 4,692,008
3 Canada 1,475,063
4 United Kingdom 1,242,985
5 India 1,200,111

Passenger Traffic by Air

Annual number of passengers carried by registered air carriers
1 United States of America 798,230,000
2 China 436,183,969
3 United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland 131,449,680
4 Germany 115,540,886

You can go to https://flightaware.com/live/map and zoom out to see a map of the planes in the sky. It seems like the US, China and Europe have the largest concentrations of flights. I think the CARES Act requirements and political opposition to stay-at-home orders in the US has resulted in a smaller decrease in flights than in other countries.
