The good ol days [of Solari flap boards]
Who remember's the Solari Boards:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-51470599.
I can remember them as a kid but honestly cannot remember the last time I saw them in an airport.

Indeed FRA has the most impressive, going around multiple surfaces. MEL too and many of the medium sized airports in the former Soviet Union.

I used to like the sound they made as all the flights changed. I remember JNB had them for a long time. I am not sure if FRA airport's screens are digital lookalikes but they still have that old appearance. (It's been a while since I was in FRA).
Edit: from posts above it seems FRA does still have them.

The QF F lounges in Australia have them.
The TWA Hotel at JFK has a couple of them too, now showing fictitious flight information but previous to the hotel opening (and after the terminal was decommissioned) it was showing live flight information.

OP-
THANKS for bringing this up. I miss the days as well of those solari flip boards. When I was younger my 1st experience seeing the boards flap/flip was somewhere in europe....
And when i see them...i instantly remember europe....
I wonder if a screensaver for mac/windows exists that does this exactly: time/date (and possibly temperature for a particular city)

I can't remember where I last saw one but I loved the full-flap one at xHKG. Wherever there was flight status, you could just catch "Diverted to Taipei" or "Diverted to Manila" for typhoon season.

I know I've seen these in lots of airports, but that sight and sound will always remind me of my days backpacking through big European railway stations more than anything else.
In most airports, you don't really need to look at the board. (You just look at your phone to find your gate and flight status.) For trains, the big board was where everybody got their track number.
