North - I think Fairbanks, AK just edges out Gullfoss in Iceland. Probably 65″ N as we went north of the city a ways.

South - Cape Otway Lighthouse, off the Great Ocean Road outside Melbourne - 3851″ S.

East/West? Crossing the International Date line at 180E/180W, covers both. E/W "from your current location" is a tough definition. Immediately east of me is 24,000+ miles west of me. I was recently there...

Traveling in one direction on a given trip? Westward, I make it to The Grotto on the GOR - 14254′ E. Eastward - I completed a full lap, but the easternmost stop before flying back - looks like Hyderabad is slightly east of Agra - 7829′ E
Dad to Rei and roadtriper like this.

Here is a discussion with a similar topic; and FlyerTalk members have answered the furthest easternmost and westernmost they have ever been as well:

What are the northernmost and southernmost points you have travelled to?

If one has lived most of their lives in one place or country, that could be a reference point to east and west. For example, if one lives in the US, the furthest east might be India or Bangledesh and the furthest west might be Thailand or Myanmar, assuming Thailand or Myanmar was reached via the Pacific.

Another reference point might be the Prime Meridian in Greenwich, near London. The farthest east one might have been might be New Zealand. The farthest west one might have been might be Hawaii.

North and south is more straightforward. The most northerly point might be Svalbard or Alaska for some. The southern most point might be Puerto Williams, Chile or, for some, coastal Antarctica.

I would like to go completely around the world some day when traveling to India. Maybe go there over the Pacific via Singapore. Maybe leave via Europe.

North: Hamningberg, Norway: 7033'04.8"N / 70.551334 in decimal, right to the edge of the cliff. Although I have briefly touched down in a plane at Hammerfest airport (7041'00.3"N/ 70.683404) so very slightly further north if places we have not stood on our own feet count.

South: Guayaquil, Ecuador: 209'58.3"S / -2.166182, barely scraped into the southern hemisphere at all!

East: Tokyo, Japan: 13943'41.0"E / 139.728042

West: Santa Monica, USA: 11832'45.9"W / -118.546085

I live in London, UK so my furthest both east and west are based on a starting point of 0.

Yeah different ways to look at it, for east/west I just used the highest degree of east and west longitudes where I've been on the surface of the earth...not counting airplane flight paths. Another fun approach is the geographic extremes of a given country, continent, hemisphere, etc. Also various highest and lowest points.

North: Eqi, Greenland
South: Punta Arenas, Chile (or King George Island/Antarctica as flew to the island and then visited various parts via a small ice breaker)
East: Dubai, UAE
West: Goa, India

I have been to every continent and many islands so East and West were tough (but finally went with SAN as the starting point).
