Self-Driving Jet Bridges

We have self-driving cars. We have automated robots and autonomous drones. Why can't we build a self-driving Jet Bridge so that it doesn't take forever for the jet-bridge operator to line up the door?

Seems like an excellent idea (although IME, it's usually because the bridge operator isn't there that it takes a long time). Like so many jobs which should be automated, I guess it's the unions who will try to stop it.
