Which aircraft did I fly? (Pt. 2)
Hey all!
I found the actual stub from my boarding pass. Ready for a fun game of guess-the-tail? Date: July 9th, 2005 Route: SFO - CDG Airline: UA Flight: 926 Seat: 21F (window) Y-cabin I have photos from the window of the plane during the takeoff; I know I was in a window seat. United's long-haul fleet at that time would have been: B747-400, B757-200, B757-300, B767-200, B767-300ER, B767-400ER, B777-200, B777-200ER, McDonnell Douglas DC-10. Can anyone tell which aircraft I flew? Thanks! https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...84c78e23f.jpeg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...1f5bb14e6.jpeg |
UA acquired both the 753 and the 764 in the CO merger in 2012; I believe the D10 had departed the fleet by 2005, and the 757 didn’t have the legs for SFO-CDG the three vortex generators make me think it’s a 772 |

the VGs are the three little black bits on the wing ... they’re each maybe 1” high and 3” long; their purpose is to disrupt the “boundary layer” between the undisturbed airstream and the upper surface of the wing ... irregularities in the airflow delay separation of the boundary layer (aerodynamic stall) and increase low-speed controllability UA only had a few of the long-range DC-10-30s; the only one I flew on was in 1987, and I don’t think they were in the fleet much beyond the early 90s |
If seat 21F is an economy class window seat, wouldn't it be a single aisle plane?

I took a look at DIIO Mi, an airline industry tool that has flight data back to 2001. It claims that the only UA SFO-CDG flight on that date was operated by a 763.

If you feel like spending $250 on it you can buy the custom date from FlightAware.

In what sense? Outing myself as being an airline employee? Yes, but I've stated that other times.
