The furthest you've gone for the shortest amount of time

Two years ago, I flew from LA to Saudi Arabia (16 hour flight each way) for a 5 day visit. This got me thinking, surely some of you must have done even more intense trips where it was NOT a mileage run and you had another purpose/reason for having to take the trip. Would love to hear about your adventures with long trips and very short stays.

Next month, I will be flying 15 hours each way for a seven-day trip to Australia from Los Angeles. Not as bad, but trying to accomplish a lot (two states, multiple national parks, etc.)

Their are people that fly from Los Angeles to Australia, stay a few hours and then go back.
People from Australia have flown to UK (~24hrs) , had a beer/meal, stayed overnight and then flown back.

Fair enough. Edited original post to reflect that we're talking about non-mileage run situations. Would love to hear stories where people had other reasons to travel so far for a short amount of time.

HNL for a meeting from the east coast; 1 night in HNL.
Driving from Central PA to Portsmouth, NH and back in the same day.
Met my daughter during her study abroad in Lisbon for 50 hours on the ground.

Those are the ones that stand out.

ABQ-LAX-SYD-CBR and back for three days at home over Easter. At the time I was in the early/besotted stages of what seemed then an amazing relationship. (Ho ho) I used points to come home in between USA commitments just to be with her. At least the upgrades cleared each way...lol

Mine were probably:

JFK-SFO-SIN-SFO-JFK for about 36 hours on the ground. There might have been a stop in HKG

JFK-NRT-SFO or ORD-MIA or RSW for 24-26 hours on the ground in Japan did this once a year for like 6 years

JFK-LAX-MEL-HBA about 3 and a half, 4 days on the gound then HBA-MEL-LAX-JFK

JFK-LAX-BKK-HKT then HKT-BKK-HKG-ORD-LGA. As I recall I left NY on Monday afternoon and returned Thursday afternoon for a Thursday night meeting in NY.

JFK-NRT leave Monday arrive Tuesday afternoon, meetings Wednesday
NRT-FRA-DUB Thursday morning meeting for dinner Thursday and all day Friday
DUB-LHR-IAD-JFK Saturday morning.

That same year I did
LGA-ORD-PVG about 3 days on the ground in Shanghai then
PVG-LHR- (by bus) LGW-FLR on the ground about 4 days in Italy then
FLR-LGW (bus)-LHR-JFK

Those were all business trips.

For mileage runs

LGA-CLT-LGW two or so hours at the airport then LGW-CLT-LGA
JFK-SEA back on the same plane in a couple hours.

Lots of overnights to London from NYC.

Riyadh to Hong Kong/Guangzhou and back for 3 days

Moscow to Ho Chi Minh via Istanbul for all of 16 hours before continuing to Siem Reap (admittedly due to my own booking mistake)

Birmingham (England) to various parts of Jordan by way of Dublin and Heathrow for about 24 hours before returning to Heathrow

For business: PWM to SYD (via PHL and DFW) for a two day event.

For mileage runs: a few times I've done BOS-ANC and back with less than 12 hours on the ground.
