Economy class: Can you sleep better on a windowless window seat ?

My theory is that it will be more comfortable to lean your head against the wall that's missing a window. Your head would be more stable against the even surface of the wall, whether you're using a pillow or not.

What do you guys think ?

It depends. If you're a smaller individual like the FTer who started the "I prefer middle seats" thread, probably so because as you point out, the windowless wall is an even surface.

For those of us of the "Northern European" size category, it depends. The window gives an extra inch or two of shoulder room if it aligns correctly. The windowless seats also tend to have the bulge between sections, which further cuts into shoulder room.

My personal favorites are the rows with two windows, where the rearward window is roughly even with my shoulder with the seat upright-ish. I can lean into that window in a futile attempt to sleep, or I can lean forward and look out the other one.

Wow - trying to find a positive aspect to the windowless window seat - you must really be a glass-half-full kind of person :D

I think it's moot when you are in F or C, especially with lie flats. This is a Y problem.

Wasn't it obvious that we're talking about Y ? I'll add it in the thread title

NO! Lol, I am a person who prefers a window in Y before one if F for exactly that reason, so I can sleep against it. The wall is closer on the seats without a window, making it worse than F for me at least. F the window is too far away. I like to put my head right where the window meets the wall, perfect!

This is a Y

Well, I'll know the chance of my being sucked out of the window are at zero. This might help sleep a little. :p

As the person in the aisle seat, yes. No arguing over shade up when the window seat person wants to stare out into sunlight as the rest of the cabin tries to sleep. How about windowless red eye flights?

When I've got to sit in a window seat in Y I like to have the window there. As others have noted already, there's slightly more shoulder room when the window is present. Also, I like the chill of pressing up against the window at altitude. The coolness helps me sleep.
