On-block time
Hi i just want to know how the airports takes the time of the on-block .. or what is the name of the system which take it ( if it systematically measured) ? |
Block times are actually used by the airline, not airport. It's generally defined as the amount of time the aircraft is moving under it's own power from gate to gate (includes taxiing). Or also the time the aircraft starts moving under it's own power to the time the aircraft stops moving under it's own power. It's recorded by an aircraft's on board computer called an ACARS.

Thank you for responding 1. Is the information which is is taken by ACARS is accurate? Is there a probability that the system will send wrong messages? 2. Which countries used ACARS ? And what is the difference between ACARS and SITA ? |

Yes I searched about ACARS on internet but I prefer to ask my questions to someone who works in this field so the answer will be more accurate and through experience
but thank you anyway |

On-Time Block is all doors closed and parking brakes released reported by ACARS, even if you're still sitting at the gate. LoL
