The most interesting trip that you'd love to do someday
What trips have you heard of where you just think "Damn, I really, really want to do that someday"? What's keeping you from going?
Personally, I would love to take a motorbike to Kashmir for a few weeks. |
Hi Pete Huang, welcome to FT.
As a motorcycle traveler myself, my question to you is: "To Kashmir, from where?". I'd like to go on Safari again. Lack of time keeps me from getting there. I'd also prefer to travel with somebody, not solo, so the logistics of getting a travel buddy keep pushing the date out and out again. |
Sailing through the Chilean Fjords.

Trans-Siberian Railway
Visa hassles and the time it takes put me off, plus none of my friends want to do it |
I would like to travel through N. Korea. Political uncertainty and the DPRK's insistence on minders controlling the tour turn me off.

Bhutan
Galapagos Patagonia and Antarctica Maybe a longer trek in Nepal (I've done a shorter teahouse trek) Namibia Israel/Jordan Maybe an African safari with Victoria Falls and some of the other traditional destinations Those are a few on our list that we want to get done someday... |

The Camino, specifically the Camino Frances.

boat from Denmark to Iceland (via Faroes), wander around, fly to Greenland, wander around, fly back to New York, but the Greenland-US airfares are outrageous

With Icelandic tourism booming I expect we'll see direct flights to Greenland again within the next 5 years or so. Its unfortunate that Air Greenland tried their one attempt to fly here in the depths of the recession. |
Antarctica. I was poised to go a few years ago, but couldn't find a travel companion who could swing both the cost (five figures at minimum) and the time off (three weeks, give or take). It's not in the budget right now, but I hope to get there within the next few years.

Hope to do South Africa this year (w/ side trip to Brazil) but Antarctica would be the Creme de la Creme!
|
Would love to visit the ancient Roman cities of Libya, but parents won't let me
|
Just came back from Antarctica and I can say that it ranks in my top 3 trips of all time. (chgoeditor: go solo. I did, and so did a large number of people on my vessel. None of my friends could swing the money or the time either.)
I'm with The Wolf: for sure, space. If I had $20 million to fling about, rather than $20 thousand (i.e. Antarctica), I'd be on the space station faster than you could say 3, 2, 1... |
