First time flying a domestic flight in Japan, about a year and a half ago (Hiroshima to Tokyo). ANA had a huge Pokémon promotion going on, and a new Pokémon store had just opened in the Hiroshima shopping mall.

The plane pushes back and the ground crew all line up on the ramp next to the taxiway, bow and wave....then pull out giant stuffed Pikachu dolls and start dancing...followed by another bow with the Pikachus, and then the Pikachus all wave....and another bow.

When my checked bag arrived, it had a tiny origami Pikachu pinned to the handle.

I travel a lot internationally, but rarely to Japan. You regulars to Japan may find my experience tame, but I break out into a big grin every time I think about that. I also have a world map in my office with pushpins in all the places I've traveled...the origami Pikachu is pinned to Hiroshima.
