Lack of Pre Departure Beverages First Class Solution
I have read on these forums about many airlines not offering Pre Departure Beverages and this is where the lounge comes in. Just before leaving I ask the Bartender for another drink and will go up to the coffee station where there are take away coffee cups and pour my drink into that and put a lid on.
When I get on the plane I start drinking it. I have anything from a Campari to a Bourbon. Then when I board I ask the FA for a Glass of Water. Drink that first and then pour the contents of my PDB. In winter its Irish Coffee or a Baileys. In summer its an Iced Baileys Coffee or just Bourbon straight up. Perhaps its Red Wine or Sparkling Wine. Whatever I order for my last drink is going with me on the plane in that Coffee Cup. Not once have I ever been stopped. What I'm saying here is a solution and if the MOD thinks its not appropriate they can remove it but this is a FT tip that I'm sure can help those who complain on various forums about not getting a PDB. The Gate agents for all they know think I'm sipping on coffee. The Flight Attendants won't care as anyways there going to serve me later. You know the rule"Alcoholic Beverages served by our crew only" Well the lounge is part of the crew just on the ground. And the one "We kindly ask you not to remove food and drinks from the lounge" But they do invite you to take coffee so yea I'll spike my coffee or pour in that glass of Red Wine", Anyone ever done this before? Even when flying In Coach I'll do the same thing minus the glass and just sip it while waiting for the plane to takeoff. Voila no more hassles about not getting a Pre Departure Beverage. If the Flight Attendants are not up to doing a PDB run because they are too lazy or busy chit chatting I'll take the liberty to enjoy myself and get ready for the flight. |
Yes, a negroni in a paper cup is just the height of classy!

May I suggest that people who *need* to drink in any circumstance have other, more important issues to deal with.
Plus, based on the statement,

The OP has placed the liquor licenses of the lounge and of the airline at risk, and has violated no less than 2 or 3 laws himself.
