Airline On-Time Stastics
Hello all - while doing some research for a few potential flights, specifically on DL, I Am finding that some of the %'s add up to less than 95%.
Is this normal and expected? One set of flights on added up to 78%. TIA bo1953 |
My single most frequent flight is the 720p NNG-SHA departure. It has a pretty good on time rating according to Ctrip, but I have never once made to baggage claim within 45 minutes of scheduled arrival.

The 'on-time' is at best, made up. If they close the doors 5min before departure time they will claim it departed 'early'. If they land 3min before arrival time it's 'early'. Can taxi around for an hour and it's still on-time.
Just how it is. I don't trust those at all. |

As for not adding up to 100%, that's because DL leaves a gap in the times they account for: 'On time' is defined as flights arriving within 15 minutes of scheduled arrival time. '+30 mins' is defined as flights arriving more than 30 minutes past their scheduled arrival time. '+60 mins' is defined as flights arriving more than 60 minutes past their scheduled arrival time. |

Nope. DoT stats are based on door open at the gate within 14 minutes of scheduled arrival time. They can play games with it by padding the schedule but that's about it.
