Baggage damaged by Emirates - Claim advice needed

One of my Samsonite pieces of luggage by Emirates. One handle has come off and there is a crack in the main body of the case.

I went to baggage claim at DXB who were unbelievably dismissive claiming 'minor damage' and 'you still have another handle you can use'.

After I kicked off, they raised a claim (which this will assess without admitting liability) for me to continue when I return to the UK as I am only in Dubai for 72 hours.

I've never had to claim baggage damage before, can anyone help by sharing their experiences or advice?

I also have AMEX Platinum travel insurance, but would rather claim from Emirates.

Once, on a J flight with AF, the retractible handle was torn off. I got a voucher to get a new suitcase at their downtown luggage service as they didn't have anything similar at CDG.

Check with Samsonite service center for the cost of repairs. There is no reason to not claim with Amex as well.
