I just signed up for Chapman Freeborn. I am not sure what will happen next. I have always been interested becoming an onboard courier.

After signing up I got an email back a couple of days later saying they did not need couriers.

OBC alive and kicking.
OBC’ are still very much a part of time critical global logistics, I’ve been an OBC since 1976 and I’m still flying very regularly with automotive, aerospace and other super urgent, valuable or important (or all) consignments. So far I’ve visited 89 countries and flown over 4000 times. An OBC is a very expensive mode of transport, but nothing compared to an AOG or auto production line coming to a standstill!

My uncle used to fly cash around for as a courier for the US Federal Reserve ... fun job for someone semi-retired, already has some basic security clearance, and loves flying (and collecting miles ;)).. He lived in Dallas, and a lot of US currency is printed in Fort Worth. The currency itself was shipped in large quantities as freight in the cargo hold of commercial domestic flights out of DFW ... there was police security on both ends, but they wanted someone physically on the plane in case of diversions etc. Most of the time he just flew somewhere and flew back without ever physically interacting with the currency. Occasionally planes would divert and he would wind up sitting with tens of millions in cash in airport cargo area until a new plane was available ...
