Brazil visa processing time for Canadians

Hi everyone - does anyone know how long it takes to process a Brazilian tourist visa in Canada (I'm located in Toronto). I'd like to go to Brazil in mid-December, but also have a trip to the US for the end of November. Is it likely that I'll get my passport back before then? (i.e. in 3 weeks)

How long will they typically hold my passport for? I'll be handing in my application on Monday.

Thanks!

I know each consulate is different, but it's 4 days for everyone in Tokyo regardless of nationality. I can't imagine them taking much longer than that in other cities.

Its been awhile but i remember the sfo consulate website saying exactly how long it would take and the exact window of time u can pick it up. The limiting factor was making the appointment and showing up to apply

This is also how the MIA consulate operates. If they say 15 business days processing time, it will take exactly 15 business days.

Holy cow! 15 business days is ridiculous, must be a part of the artificial "reciprocity" to retaliate for US & Canadian visa process. Now that I'm in front of a PC, I checked Toronto, its 15 business days there as well. That's going to make it tight for the OP.

Considering that in the vast majority of countries that require visas, it's nothing more than a money grab opportunity and has little to nothing to do with limiting immigration (illegal or otherwise). There is absolutely no reason to have such a long waiting period to print a sticker and apply to a passport except if they are trying to prove a point. When I went to get my Ethiopian visa recently, they are quite sensible about it, they'll do it right on the spot while you wait if the Consulate is available, otherwise you pick it up the next day, they don't try to sugarcoat it as anything more than a tourist tax which is all that most visas are.

That's exactly it -Brazil operates in a tit for tat basis

Yes, Brazilian government applies visa reciprocity.

For Brazilians applying for US B1/B2 visas in São Paulo it takes 1-2 months.

Typically the Brazil embassy/consulate will take about 1 week or less for tourist visa.

Perceived high risk countries might take longer, but that's normally due to verifying return ticket and sometimes bank statement. This should not apply to Canadians though.

If you apply for a TA visa for work purpose, it will take far longer.

In Montréal, the consulate charges $97.50 CAD, in the past it has taken 7-10 days, IME. They go first come, first serve and turnaround depends on their volume. unfortunately, no rush service available. I've always dropped it off and picked it up in person.
