6 month passport validity required for Canada?

My passport expires last week of April 2016 and I am traveling to Canada on Nov. 25 of this year. If I do not renew my passport right now will I have problems boarding my flight LAX-YYZ on Delta?

The go-to place for this sort of question is either the Web site of the country in question (here Canada) or, for U.S. citizens, the Country Information page of the U.S. State Department's site. Clicking on Canada there says, right under Quick Facts, "PASSPORT VALIDITY: Must be valid at time of entry."

(For smaller countries that aren't as easy to zero in on as Canada in the small map of the world on that page, you can also enter their name in a box. Start typing and it will show you a list of all the places that match what you've typed up to that point. It also tells you what country your mouse pointer is over when it's in the map area.)

Go to the SkyTeam website and look for the link to TIMATIC. Enter your details and you will see the regulations that *most* airline agents see when they check the requirements. However, DL "has its own version of TIMATIC" and can be very stubborn about such things. Therefore, you need as much ammunition as possible. Print the TIMATIC result and also what the State Department website says (assuming that you're a USA citizen), although the USA State Department has absolutely no authority regarding your admissibility to a foreign country (including Canada) and can be seriously out of date or inaccurate. You should also go to one or more Canadian consulate websites (for the LA area and various other regions in the USA) to check the rules and print the results to show to DL agents if needed.

However, if you have time, why not renew the passport now?

For entry rules into Canada this is the official source:

However airline staff doing international document check usually go by TIMATIC.
