I'm travelling to Greece, what's the cheapest place to buy Euros online?
I don't want to take a chance of the ATM's being out of money, out having a daily limit. |

Banks tend to provide a bad rate (some not all). I always use a currency trading company such as Moneycorp.

You really shouldn't have a problem now. I was there with the banks closed this past weekend and it was fine. now that banks have reopened it shouldn't be an issue. just get them at the airport when you land.

Maybe you should get drachmas. :D

Central Bank of Greece might do you a nice deal.

You have to have an account to buy from those. Before I bought from Wells Fargo using a credit card, but now, you need to have a Wells Fargo account.

Do you have a layover in the EU on your way to Greece?
Hit up an ATM at the layover airport.. |
In Cyprus, during the financial crisis of 2013, when capital controls were enacted and ATM withdrawals were limited to 90 (or 100 Euros) daily I was able to withdraw 500 Euros daily using my US HSBC ATM card. I offer this info as a point of reference.

OP doesn't say where he is travelling from - most so far have assumed it's the USA.
If OP (or anyone else reading) is going from the UK, my standard advice is to click through from either Quidco or TCB for 0.5% or 0.55% cashback respectively. Order for collection at your airport of departure. Then use the holiday travel money tool on Moneysavingexpert to find the market best rate for collection (usually bestforeignexchange.com). Screenshot this, and e-mail to Travelex, explaining that you want to claim on their price match promise. This way, you beat the market best eat by 0.5% and you get the convenience of pick up from the airport. |
