Best points-only trip?
My wife and I will celebrate 10 years next May and I would really like to take a trip only using points, or mostly points, if possible.
We qualified for the SouthWest companion pass recently - so that's good through the end of next year. SouthWest flies to Belize and Costa Rica, so I've been looking there since we could fly for free. I just signed up for the Chase Sapphire Preferred and the Citi ThankYou Premier - so we should have those points in a few months. And then we'll move on to the next card(s). Any tips, tricks or suggestions on how to take full advantage of the points for a trip like this? |
Not quite a full trip, but last year i boarded a delayed flight and realized i would not make my non-protected connecting longhaul home.
From the plane i called up united, miraculously found space for lufthansa first class (in super-saver!), ended up the only pax in the cabin, and landed home earlier than on originally scheduled flight. In light of thr circumstances, that was my best use of miles |
Congratulations, that is good use. The comment seems a bit of a non-sequitur, though. Is there a question you were replying to?

On further research, as this is cross-posted in the more apt forum for the OP -- the Information Desk -- and FlyerTalk disallows cross-posting, I'll close this thread now and invite replies to the OP's Information Desk thread. Ocn Vw 1K, Moderartor. |
