Pilot was overly romantic with FA?

On my United Airlines flight I saw the pilot and flight attendant talking and giggling. I only paid attention because he had his hand over her shoulder and seemed over friendly and having a moment together and he quickly took it down when he saw me. Im not sure what to think of it but to me it felt like a bit romantic.

Is this a common occurance or were they husband and wife?

Was SHE the pilot, and was HE the flight attendant?

Fleck Jun 11, 2015 12:26 pm

It's completely common human behavior.

And are you positively sure they are not dating or married to each other? :)

I have no way of knowing hence I'm asking as well. Does husband wife get to serve on the same flight? I'm not sure since in my office usually you can't work together in the same department etc but not aware of airline procedure.

I wondered the same thing when I was in 3rd grade. Does touching any part of someone else mean they're married? :)

Some people like to initiated physical touching when engaging in conversation. Others keep a good distance and won't even make eye contact.

years ago, I remember being on a domestic flight in Greece - the door to the cockpit was open and the flight attendant (female) sat on the pilot's (male) lap in the middle of the flight.

I have been on at least two flights where one of the pilots was married to a working flight attendant. United Airlines.... a few years ago.

katstarr Jun 11, 2015 12:48 pm

then again, last year I was on a flight from Dulles to Dubai on United. The flight attendant (male) looked so familiar. Turns out we'd gone to high school together 30+ years before. His wife was another flight attendant on the same flight. You'd never know it though - they were very professional in public.

which is the point really - it's ok in private - not in public.

Sometimes boys and girls touch each other.

What difference does it make if they were married, somehow romantically involved or are just friendly to one another?

If it didn't affect the service, I don't shed why one should care.

I must have a much different idea of PDA or being romantic in public than some folks... These people probably work many long hour shifts with each other and have close relationships. I went out for drinks with a flight crew that I had met the night before and they happened to be working my flight the next day and they were all very close friends. Another one of those things that makes me wonder why people care about others behavior if it isn't outrageous or somehow impacting you.

If he (or she) had their hands down the others pants I may consider that less than appropriate behavior but also give them an attaboy at the same time.

Where do bees and storks come into the mix? :p

I'm sure a lot of pilots and FAs are married.

Sometimes to each other!

I am never ceased to be amazed at the number of posts on FT about topics that should be of no concern to the poster.
