Major Corporations that Support certain Routes

Are there any known routes that one major corporation or (less focused) one industry that basically makes the route sustainable/profitable?

Does the business fares or corporate contract on certain routes weigh so heavily that if something were to happen with the contract or company bound to the contract the route would stop?

I'm having a hard time coming up with any FACTS, but MUC-CLT operated by LH seems to have something to do with BMW headquarters in MUC and manufacturing facility in Greer, South Carolina.

IMHO, there are flights that corporations support, but I doubt there are many that would fold if the company changed carriers. I understand that several of the Korean chabols have contracts which are quite lucrative to OZ and KE. Since OZ is owned by Kumho, I suspect that Kumho has some influence over Asiana.

In the US, I'm relatively sure VBT would see virtually no commercial flights without the pull of a certain major retailer's HQ.

On a similar note, ELM probably wouldn't have commerical service if Corning HQ was located elsewhere.

There are a number of 'oil routes' out there.

I believe GlaxoSmithKline (and maybe a little IBM) keep AA's RDU-LHR route afloat.

Up until five years ago, Intel, Adidas, Nike and Columbia kept LH flying PDX/FRA.

I thought XNA was the preferred airport for the blue devil?

I've heard the same - and many complaints from some trying to get SWUs to clear on this route.

BA's LCY-JFK operation is supported by the financial services industry. There were posts a while ago stating that the service was even "guaranteed" by some banks, who promised to provide a certain amount of revenue each year.

Indeed... LAX-XNA on AA nonstop is supported by Waltonville.

Supposedly Amazon is what drove AS to start SEA-MKE.
