Thai Passport Tweakers with Badges
So I just flew into Phuket Thailand from Singapore. The customs guy starts tweaking my passport so that it fits into the scanner. The more it doesn't fit, the more he tweaks. Painful to watch.
"Don't squash my passport like that, please."
"What?" he asked.
"You guys always do that. The last time I came here
in September you did the same thing. That damages the passport."
(the scanner is flat so this weird bending ritual makes no sense and never seems to work anyway)
The incredulous guy has me switch to the adjacent line to talk to his
boss. She says there is a new 90 day rule that I am violating
and that next time I enter Thailand I will not be let in without it."
She writes this message under the rubberstamp.
Then I have to go back to the other line and people got upset at me.
I think it was just payback for calling the guy out. No other country
I have visited does that passport bending so often. It's my property, I don't want it damaged. I was civill and non-confrontational about it.
Anyone ever heard of the Thai 90 day rule? I thought it was just 30 days and
then you can go to another country and reboot and come back.

it is not personal property, but who cares. I wouldn't want mine to get jacked up either. OP still paid for it.

30 days or 90 days depends on your passport country and your visa status.
They are cracking down on visa runners, so that may be part of it.
And, to agree with others, the passport is *not* your property.

Guy makes a couple of rude and snarky comments about "Tweakers" I can of assume that's the way he like to be talked to. Unless, of course, he has some evidence that they were on meth. In which case I'm in the wrong.

And now, back to the snark . . .
