I have flown on the UA 788 5 times...all transpac.
In their BF cabin, so I can offer only my view points.
By the time I got on the flights either in Houston, Denver or Narita, I am so tired from waking up early, or connecting from another flight. I just passed out after the meals, and did not even noticed anything different. One fun fact though, the lav door opens on hinges, so the whole door is pushed back into the lav. And to flush, you have to lower the cover and wave at the sensor...I guess to lower the whush noise. |
I flew the 787 2 weeks ago with NH, SEA-NRT in C and I loved it. Definitely noticed the higher humidity levels and did not feel dried out, either skin or eyes, at all. And I normally really suffer from dry eyes. Much quieter than any other aircraft and the huge windows are fantastic. We had zero jet lag when we arrived in Japan and I firmly believe it was because of the 787.
It's my favorite aircraft as of now and I will go out of my way to fly it from now on if at all possible. Especially in C :p |
It's a tube with wings, comfort is mainly a consequence of how much the operating airline feel they can get their customers to accept - which, let's face it, is rather a lot these days.
In my opinion it's very much like an A330 on comfort and noise, which means it sits just below the A340 classic, which again is a step lower than the A340NG. And that means it's still well below an A380. |

I've had the NZ 787-9 a few times, I'm not a fan of the electronic shades due to how long they 'lock out' their dimming operation after take off (or the lack of direct air vents, which I like on Boeings vs Airbus), the overhead bins are quite nice and capacious though.

I like the big windows and I cannot lie, you other brothas can't deny...
