The bolded bit is incorrect. Even the lowest backpacker has these things nowadays.

A bit of both, I pack as light as possible and subscribe to the one bag travel policy (2 if going with camera gear) but I like staying at nice places. Holidays afterall.

Flashpacking has nothing to do with gadgets. I never carry a laptop - why would I? I dont have work to do while traveling. An old tablet will suffice.

Post #14 has a pretty accurate description :)

I'm a bit out of the age demographic for Flashpacking, as it's usually regarded as a 30 something demographic - from the numerous descriptions I have read.

But I suppose I fit the mold, albeit an older mold. ;)

^^ my absolute favourite. Rarely fails to get a comment about it being a priority or c class line or something from someone looking down their nose at me and my backpack and book bag. Usually get a supportive comment from the agent as well which is always awesome. like one that told first guy in economy line who tried to argue to get ahead of me that "he pays for most of your ticket, you should thank him". I was a bit embarrassed but it was nice to hear.

This debate is much like the tourist/traveller distinction. Mist of the people who care much about it are the ones trying to make themselves look better than others.
