Which travel insurance?

Hi all,

I would like to have a couple of names to subscribe an insurance.
I am Italian, but living/working in Germany; I have Lufthansa M&M Credit Card which already has insurance, but only if the travel is booked/paid using that card.

I need travel (cancellation, delays and so on) for me and my wife.
We are travelling to Dubai/Hong Kong/Shenzen and then to New York.

Thanks
Marco

Check with your "usual" insurance company. I think that Allianz har some good travel insurances if i'm not mistaken.

As a good example, my "usual" insurance company for accidents and whatever offers a good plan for about 30€/year which covers pretty much everything.

What do you mean with "usual"?
Now I have only the German statutory health insurance.
I got a quote from Allianz for 260 Euro/year, for two people, for cancellation, baggages, delays, health insurance, all over the world.

Oh okay, i was thinking more in the lines if you have a health insurance other than that or if you have an insurance that cover thefts, accidents, break-ins robberies, fires etc.

I suspect insurance is still a bit different in price from country to country(even in the EU) but from what i've heard Allianz is quite good.

I've had good experiences with claims from Allianz.

+1. Have bought insurance through Allianz several times. The one time I had a claim, it was a hassle-free experience getting reimbursed.

Thanks. :)

I will go with Allianz :)

Can someone please recommend me a travel insurance for a Romanian citizen traveling to the United States for approximately 2-3 weeks ?

My credit card does not offer any nor my employer (for leisure traveling). I am concerned about medical insurance since I'm traveling in winter time and who knows what may go wrong.

I am also interested in a policy that will somehow cover (total or partial) the airfare in case something goes wrong or my luggage gets lost.

Thank you

the purpose of insurance is to cover catastrophic losses. luggage and air fair are insiignificient when compared to major medical and evacuation costs.

What do you mean catastrophic ? I was more worried about a twisted ankle ... broken leg if I slip on ice.

Can you recommend me a reputable company that accepts Romanian customers as well and maybe I can sort it out with them about my requirements ?

nonrefundable travel bookings could be in tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars

but i certainly agree re evacuation and possibly medical

worldnomads.com will sell a policy to anyone on the planet. In terms of simplicity, they're about as simple as it gets.

The purpose of insurance is to cover whatever you want covered by insurance and the costs will depend entirely on the destinations and cover desired.

you certainly travel in upper class if your travel booking cost hundreds of thousands of dollars!!! perhaps it is your entourage that runs the bill up to mega bucks.

abramovich yacht runs $500K+ per day plus expenses and gratuity and is only 12 passengers (SOLAS)

if i personally do a ~$10K trip, i refuse to buy insurance that will not cover any nonrefundable losses

but again, this is totally separate from evac/medical, those insurances work fine
