Open-Jaw Checked Bag Question
 

Flown 100's of thousands of miles, and flown on plenty of open-jaw flights but never checked a bag on an open-jaw.

6 day "layover" between flights. Can I check for the first leg and receive it immediately? I ask because my wife is coming... hence the need to check a bag...

Not sure I understand the question. An open jaw is two flights, one from AAA-BBB and the other from CCC-AAA. You have two opportunities to check bags: at AAA to pick up at BBB and at CCC to pick up at AAA.

of course. in fact, the airline will not hold your bag for you for 6 days even if you want them to. (Or even overnight usually). It will be treated like two one way tickets. Or like a roundtrip.

My guess is the "openjaw" at issue is AAA-BBB-CCC.

Did you actually think they'd keep your luggage at the airport for 6 days????

No I did not believe they would, but wanted to ensure that was the policy. I have had overnight holds for layovers before. Where I fly in at 9pm, and flyout at 7-8am and my bags are held.
