Does it matter? That's what the call button is for.

Intervals over 45 min are grounds for compensation! ;)

On long flights it's far better to stretch your legs and go to the back to collect a drink.

I would expect the cart twice around the time of the buy-on-board meal service. There should also be passes every ~90 minutes or so with water glasses on trays.

Pushing the call button for a drink is a very, very good way to piss off a flight attendant.

^^^
Also FAs often will do passings and you can flag one down and ask for whatever food or drink you're desiring. Personally I like to get up and stretch my legs on anything over 2 hours.

Also a good way to make idle chat with the FAs and whoever else might be back there getting a drink. Good way to stretch the legs and pass some time.

On a US carrier, yes it will, but we have to at least try and teach them that they are in a service job and are failing more often than not. Flagging them down as they go past is easier, but if they are MIA and you want a drink (or anything else) then that's what the button is for.

There are threads in the AA Forum where on some flights the fas (seem:)) to disappear for long periods of time.:td:
A long time ago I was on a charter flight on British Caledonian Airlines (London to NYC), the fas were continuously serving either drinks or food--are there still airlines with such good service?

only lazy FAs would get upset. After all, there is a pictogram of a person offering a beverage on the call button. Not a first aid symbol, not 911. Boeing and Airbus seem to understand the purpose of the call button. Shame that some FAs don't.

On transcon flights (similar for mainland-HNL) - I sometimes wondered how FA can "disappear" for 1 or 2 hours, even when it's a red-eye eastbound on a narrow-body like the 738's (i.e. on a recent DL LAX-JFK run) It's not like that they have their crew rest quarters above or below - walk to the back & the gallery is basically locked up, closed. Just plain self-service cups for water & juice. Another time, the curtains were drawn shut in front of the gallery - took a minute or two for 1 of the 2 FA to appear when someone a few rows in front of us rang the call button. Those on AA seemed to be better on this route, with 1 of them taking turns coming around with the tray, offering cups of water after they put away the cart.

Flying non-US carrier on TPAC runs, we have no problems whatsoever with services in Y.
