Proof of ties to canada
follow up question from previous post:
i'm returning to the US on wednesday and staying with friends for christmas and new years. as mentioned in my previous post, i've studied and trained in the US on three different occasions (all on J1 Visas). the last time i travelled in October i was questioned heavily by the first officer and then sent to secondary where i talked to two officers who were friendly and seemed to care less about my trip. obviously it was a bit unnerving and since i'm always flying to the same destination in the past (school, training, friends) i was just wondering what i should bring for proof of ties to canada? i've read the more the better, but i've also been told that too much is over board. i start school in Canada January 7th and have my enrollment letter. do i also take bank, insurance, employment letters and cell statements as evidence? |

Being 2014 you should wear a team Canada Hockey jersey and a replica gold medal at your border crossing.

Going by the nickname "hockeyguy123" isn't enough proof? :p

Start with the school letter. If / when the CBP says "Got anything else?" reply with "Yes, bank, insurance and cell statements and en employment letter. What else would you like to see?" Then let him decide. |
