Will Viagra keep me up?
According to this CNN article Viagra will help you avoid jet lag.
As I am about to travel across 10 time zones in one day, I would very much like not to be jet lagged. However, even more important to me is that I get some sleep on the plane. The first leg of my itinerary is a 12 hour flight and I will have a lie-flat seat. Usually, I manage to sleep at least 6 hours on this flight and I don't want to risk that. So, can anybody here tell me if Viagra will keep me up? |
This is a joke, right?

play on words ? maybe
joke ? no the use of drugs for other purposes other than what they were intended is not a joke this is something I am uncomfortable having on a forum such as this |
As you're in a lie-flat seat, it might improve your sleep on the plane by preventing you from rolling out of bed.

If, now, it has an additional benefit (the avoidance of jet lag) there is absolutely nothing wrong in taking it for that purpose -- assuming, of course, that your doctor prescribes it. What I am concerned about is a possible side effect -- inhibiting sleep. Hence, I raised the question in this thread. |
Now, according to HealthDay News, there may be another remedy in the works - Viagra! You've no doubt heard all the claims for the use of viagra in erectile dysfunction. But as a remedy for jet lag?
Well, according to the article: "While it's too early to know if it will work in humans, Argentinean researchers are reporting that the drug sildenafil -- better known by the brand name Viagra -- appears to reduce symptoms of jet lag in hamsters" When viagra was administered to the hamsters before adjusting their light/dark sequence to mimic that experienced in jet lag, the hamsters that received the viagra recovered 25% to 50% faster than those that didn't. |
Depending on who you have waiting for you on the other end, that's one of those homegrown remedies that may not work but it's a lot of fun to try.

maybe...but no help for your wardrobe.

Too many double entendres makes it difficult to take this thread seriously.
