Embassy and Homewood Suites always have self laundry facilities. Some even provide in-room washer and dryer. Same goes for Hilton Vacation Club locations which you can sometimes get for normal hotel prices and many rooms include FREE in-room laundry machines.
I stayed at a Courtyard by Marriott in Marlborough, Mass this weekend which had self-service laundry (coins needed) and provided free supplies (Tide). About $3 wash and dry per load. |
The Fairmont on Maui has laundry rooms.

Staybridge Suites have free laundry at all of their locations. At their Las Vegas location, if you stay in a 1-bedroom suite (the majority of their rooms), there is a washer/dryer in each suite. Nothing beats that.

A lot of the newer Residence Inns have them

What I need is a liquids container that absolutely, positively won't leak Clorox or liquid Tide all over my suitcase. Just had to toss a suitcase and half the clothes in it (the other half are now tie-dyed).

I now use those little Tide "pods" when I'm going to be doing laundry in a hotel laundry room. I'm careful to pack them in a ziplock and make sure they won't get smashed in my tote.
Many military bases have FREE laundries in their accommodations, the Kirtland Inn at the AFB in Albuquerque certainly does. If you need quarters for a hotel laundry just ask at the front desk. I've scouted around 4-5 star hotels in Asia and frequently found the hotel's laundry around the back, where you can drop off your duds at 1/5 to 1/3 the cost of sending it through the hotel itself - already mentioned above. |

tentseller,
The TSA sometimes seizes those "travel size" liquid wash packs. I've seen them seize small packets of liquid Tide and Clorox even when they fit quite easily within the 3-1-1 bags and are well under 3 ounces .

I used to use these regularly. I still see them in some properties, of the types listed above, but they are becoming more scarce in mid- and upper-end properties.
As noted, probably due to the money making potential. Other than with the longer-stay cheaper US properties in the Candlewood Suites to Residence Inn kind of categories, the chances of my finding a self-service laundry facility for free at a hotel are pretty low. |
Laundromat in the hotel
quick stop in a Walgreens or CVS for travel size soap, many hotels have it and also some places have tokens rather that quarters. as I mentioned earlier, HGI in Italy, token from front desk and soap was plumbed directly into washers. only problem I once had was soap was out and hotel had staff redo it for free and credited back the token.

Most Hampton Inns have laundry rooms, as do a lot of U.S. resorts.

http://www.amazon.com/Purex-Complete...laundry+sheets Lots of brands are now making single-use pods that are also convenient for travel but weigh more than these sheets. |
Chains? Dunno.
I know the Doubletree on Loop 410 in San Antonio has a couple machines for guests to use. |
In my experience most limited service brands that are part of the Marriott and Hilton tend to have guest laundry rooms. Sometimes they are tucked away on a upper floor as opposed to be down near the lobby. Some even have complimentary detergent. I think the ones that complimentary detergent probably have HE washers so they want to make sure you have the right detergent.
If you are a frequent enough guest and spend too much time at the the hotel bar. The manager might just let you do your laundry using the housekeeping facilities. ;) I would certainly hope any brand/place that markets itself as an extended stay property has guest laundry. |
