Closest baseball stadia to airport?
Say, howdy.....buncha us sitting 'round the hot stove on this sweltering OKC night, clicking through various MLB games......figuring the All-Star Game oughta be at Mets-CitiField every year since it's probably the closest airport-baseball connection....or is it?
Without looking-up maps or nothin'.....the conversation went sorta like this....
Don'tcha recall good ol' Candelstick Park being close to SFO....but wait, isn't Oakland right at OAK (or at least the same BART stop)?
Is Comiskey-White Sox closer to MDW than Wrigley is to ORD? (And what a shame neither airport's subway/L line goes from terminal to team....and as long as it's "Wrigley" then the Sox play at "Comiskey"...not some corporate name!)
Are the Rangers in Arlington closer to DFW* than the Phillies to PHL or Fenway from BOS or Braves from ATL (by driving distance, and is it fair to measure from *DFW-South exit?)
The newest Minne stadium is further from MSP than before, right? But that Tampa Bay Concrete-Dome is quite close to the St Pete airport used by Allegient, right?
Furthest from airport has gotta be KC and MCI.....or maybe Rockies and DEN? (oh wait, how about PIT to Pirates?)
LAX to Dodgers always seems like a long trip but maybe that's because you're looking forward to a team that's getting better, compared to the actual distance going to a depressing Astros game from HOU-Hobby.
If you want to fly-in, then take subway to the game, is the simplest trip which drops you off closest to the stadium....BWI to Orioles-Camden Park....SEA to Mariners.....or CLE to Cleveland....or STL to Cards?
Just some random jabbering between innings....it's not so much definitive answers as the mental impressions......memories vs. sabermetrics of travel and baseball!

Target Field is a direct, about twenty minute, ride from the airport to the field on the Light Rail. Can't be easier. I usually park -for free- in Bloomington and take the train.
Target Center for BBall is on the same line and the new Vikings stadium will be on the same line. Excel Center for hockey will be a bit out of the way by light rail when it is extended, but a very fast cab ride from MSP.
Cheers,
Pogopossum

Fenway isn't too far from BOS- probably easiest to take the blue line to the green line (any train but the E branch). It'd probably take... 30 minutes maybe? And it's definitely closer than that as the crow flies, since the most direct public transportation route still goes pretty far out of the way.

Nationals Park is maybe 15 min via metro from DCA
SEA to Mariners is about a 30-minute ride on SoundTransit light rail
Dodger Stadium is actually pretty convenient to BUR, although I'm not sure there are decent (if any) public transit options ...

YTZ and Rogers Centre (Toronto Blue Jays). You can look into the stadium on final approach if the roof is open. By car/ferry 2.1 kms (1.5 Miles) direct distance 2/3 of a mile.
If you want to check it out on google maps "Billy Bishop airport, Toronto" and "Rogers Centre, Toronto"

FWIW, the White Sox play at U.S. Cellular Field, not Comiskey. The Cubs play at Wrigley Field and while it's a "corporate" name, it was the family name of the owners of the Cubs not there due to a naming rights deal. The Wrigley Company does no advertising at the ballpark, nor do the Cubs get any money from the Wrigley name on the park.
And, you can take the subway/L from either airport to either ballpark. It just takes a little effort!

Target Field and the Metrodome are both in downtown Minneapolis, so similar distance from the airport. (Metrodome might be one or two train stops closer...I think Target Field is the end of the line...but it's the same general area and same train.) You might be thinking of the outdoor stadium that predated the Metrodome: it was across the highway from MSP where the Mall of America is now.
It is, if you have a convenient Allegiant flight to grab. The rest of us would have to fly into TPA, rent a car, and cross the bay. I'm still amazed that team survives playing in that dump.
I think YTZ is going to win this one: very easy walk to/from a Jays game. LGA/Citi is probably a similar distance but I can't exactly envision what streets you'd use to walk or if walking is even possible. (I'm usually in a cab heading the other direction.) YTZ, on the other hand, would actually be a rather pleasant walk along a trail and a couple side streets over to the game. I go for a run down along there whenever I stay at the Renaissance...

Several stadiums on display as you are on final approach to PHL when coming in from the east/north. Should be 10 minutes by car if the freeway isn't backed up.

This is Toronto's secondary airport (though it's still fantastic). For those of you travelling to Toronto in from longer distances, you want YYZ (Pearson).
Toronto will have a rail link from YYZ to Union Station by 2015. Allegedly the connection time will be 15 minutes. There's an indoor walkway from Union Station into Rogers Centre.
