Skipping to second segment
I'm flying from RDU to Edinburgh round trip. My travels in Europe end in London. Will there be a problem if I don't show up for my Edinburgh to London flight and just pick up my flight from London back to RDU? I really don't want to have to fly back to Edinburgh to just catch a flight back to London. It's cheaper if I do it this way rather than book that segment separately.

If you search on this, you'll see this has been answered million times. No show the second segment and your leg home will be cancelled.
|
Or more fully... miss the first segment and ALL subsequent segments are almost certain to be cancelled....

Call the airline and ask - there may be a fee involved.

OP's question is about skipping a segment. Skip a segment and the remaining segments are cancelled. Whether there is a refund depends on the terms of the fare bucket, but likely answer is that the segments have no value and you buy a new ticket at walk-up fares.
As to changes to drop a segment, you can again refer to the terms of the fare bucket to let you know what, if any those are. Bottom line: It's going to cost you. Don't wait. If you want to make a change, make it now. |
Outback Paul, the key airline term which causes a fare difference in a connection in the city of your travels with another segment to a different city compared to a non-stop roundtrip to the city of your travels is "hidden-city" ticketing. If you'll search on the term "hidden city ticketing", you'll find many threads which all give the same advice as the members have given here.
Because we have gotten increasing questions on this attempt to get around hidden-city ticketing, we have just added a hidden-city section to our announcement of Advice and Guidelines to Members planning to post in this TravelBuzz forum. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/trave...forum-445.html I'll close the thread. But you can contact me should you wish it reopened if you have a question about this itinerary which hasn't been answered. Thanks, Ocn Vw 1K, Moderator. |
