I've taken sparkling wine from PVG-YYT a few times without incidence. The Bottle Armour mentioned in the other thread is good, but I usually just use lots of garbage bags and packing tape, then stick the bottles in between piles of clothing. I've packed a fair amount of booze in my day and haven't had one break yet (knock on wood). Just make sure you pack it in such way that if it breaks, all the liquid will be contained...

Plenty of wine goes via cargo hold Fedex/UPS etc. it's not really an issue.

Not wine, but I have traveled with rum in the styrofoam wine shippers that I picked up at a liquor store, and packed it well with clothes around it.

I've used Vinnibags and they work great. Company web site is here. Also available through Amazon, I think.

I like them because I can take them with me without hogging up too much space on the outbound, unlike the styrofoam shipping cartons. Also, I have not had much luck in finding the styrofoam cartons in Europe.

I bought "wine diapers" a while ago and they have worked very well. Keeps it from breaking but, if it does, soaks it up.

I've never had a problem with this. Get a box, line it with bubble wrap and put the bottle inside that. Then wrap the box with clothes. You want to make sure it's easy for security to unwrap/rewrap if needed. I once just wrapped in just bubble wrap and tape, and security cut it open and never rewrapped it. I got lucky on that trip, but ever since I've used the bubble wrapped box method, I've been fine. No problems with extreme cold either as it is insulated pretty well this way.
