Asked before...but asking again... missing the last leg?

$800 each for LAX to Amsterdam to Vienna, returning the same way.
But it is $1400 each for LAX to Amsterdam if I try to book on the same airline, flight, etc...

What happens if I get off the plane in Amsterdam (only carry-on luggage)?
Will I be able to catch the return flight from Amsterdam to LAX, or will they cancel due to missing the last leg?

Thanks

You're not talking about missing the "last" leg; you're talking about missing the second of four legs on one ticket. Miss any leg and all remaining legs on the same ticket are likely to be cancelled.

Agreed. On every airline I know of, your reservation will be cancelled once you miss the last leg (with very few exceptions).

If this was a one-way, lots of FT reading has shown that it should be fine to miss the last leg, if done rarely and you have no checked bags.

All you return flights WILL be cancelled. Really. No doubt.

Could you possibly make AMS a very long stopover? Then on the way back fly To Vienna, then return almost immediately?

You will be stuck in Amsterdam.

Fly to Vienna, then catch another flight to go back to AMS.

Search for Hidden City Ticketing, hundreds, if not thousands of threads about it.

No matter how many times it's asked, the answer is pretty much always going to be the same. Skip a segment, and any flight segments you have on the same ticket will most likely be canceled.

If your ticket is from

LA to Amsterdam to Vienna

and returning

Vienna to Amsterdam to LA

once you miss the Amsterdam to Vienna segment, the remaining segments may be cancelled. Most likely will be cancelled.

Oh, I assumed OP was flying LAX-AMS-VIE//VIE-AMS-LAX and planning on skipping the AMS-LAX segment.

Regardless, no-showing for ANY segment (second, last, or otherwise) will result in cancellation of your itinerary, leaving you stuck in AMS. How long are you planning on staying there? You can change to a long layover or to a stopover.

OP - Are you on a RT ticket or two OW's?

try Brussels and take the train - often much cheaper. or open jaw - LAX-Vie and AMS-LAX (or similar) - will also save money.
