Request: Fare rules documentation

I would like to understand the air fare rules and their construction in detail. I'm the studious type, so I'd like to get down to the source.

Could somebody knowledgeable refer me to the appropriate reference documentation? Would I look at IATA, ATPCO, Sabre, or elsewhere?

Thanks a lot!

Here is a start for you: http://www.kvstool.com/Planning-A-Trip.php?Source=HOME

ExpertFlyer.com also can display Fare Information.

Thanks, but I'm already familiar with that level of detail and a member of ExpertFlyer.

I'm more looking for low-level technical information on fares and their construction. In other words, the documentation that travel agents and airline agents study.

Travel agents study and understand fare construction? That is a new one.

No such thing for TA and airline agents.

If you're talking about how the pricing elements of fares themselves are calculated then you pretty much won't find it anywhere: it's all commercially sensitive. You can find out what the elements are easily enough, but not how they're generated by the airlines. That said, I'm fairly certain that some airlines just make shite up to see if pax are stupid enough to pay it. BA & QF fuel surcharges, I'm looking at you.

What is this "travel agent" thing of which they speak? ;) :)
