I've done it with camera equipment that was too heavy to carry and too valuable for checked baggage. When going to a resort they had the package in my room before I arrived. Another option is FedEx hold for pickup at their location.

I e-mailed the hotel and the only response I got so far was that the person who responded said to send "to the below address" (and his signature contained the hotel's address)...so his response was very uninformative from that perspective.

I once had 10 servers sent to a Hilton Garden Inn. When I went to get them, the porter dolly thing looked like it was about to fall into pieces.
As the others said, make sure your name is on the package and if you aren't already there put your arrival date. |

Try ordering it on the Amazon Japan website itself.
If you have the Amazon product code the Jp website should recognize it and allow it to be shipped, even if they have to bring it in from outside Jp to fill the order. You might have to pay Jpns prices, but you'll save a bucket on the shipping cost as they'll only charge the local rate. I had a pair of glasses ordered and made in Phoenix on a summertrip and have them deliverd to my last hotel in Houston. Worked out just fine. |
Since I don't typically check my bag, I have shipped a box of clean clothing to a hotel that was more or less the midway point on a two-week trip. I took a franked mailing label with me (I didn't ship the label in case the first package got lost) to ship laundry back home.
I simply spoke to the concierge at each hotel before making the shipment to find out the best way of addressing the package. Several times it included my name with a parenthetical guest comment and "Attn: Concierge Desk". |
I have shipped posters and other presentation materials for conferences because it is such a pain to lug around such awkward containers. I have had mixed results shipping things to hotels. I always call ahead and find out if there are specific arrangements (a business center, a post box, does it go to the concierge or main desk) and I always get delivery confirmation, but I have had a couple hairy moments . A few times it has cost me hours going back and forth (delivery co insisting it was delivered, hotel not) and eventually we found the things. Once it was truly lost and I was running around trying to find someplace to print a poster at the last minute. Most of the times whatever I shipped did get there, but I wouldn't say it was hassle free or cheaper.

I have used FedEx ground in the US to ship luggage (inside a box) to hotels. It worked out great. I ship a week ahead and it is there a few days before I arrive.

Some articles simply do not ship outside the country of ordering. I ordered a perfume in Germany to have it send to The Netherlands. But site said: no perfumes and a list of other articles may be sent abroad. It all depends on the article.

I've done this many times. I usually say
Hotel Hotel address ATTN: mecabq (checking in XX/XX, conf. no. ZZZZZZZZ) But this is probably overkill. Never had a significant problem. I stayed at the AC Gava Mar in Barcelona recently, and when I checked in they said there was no record of a package having been delivered for me (a good hotel would make a note in the reservation). When I insisted, the lady looked around the front desk area and my FedEx envelope was buried under a stack of documents strewn about. This didn't give me a lot of confidence, but it worked out fine in the end. |
Checked with a hotel I'm staying at in June and they were a-ok with it. Told me to address the mail to
SQ421 c/o Conceirge hotel address |
