Cape town and where else for the stop over

Planning my December trip to Cape town flying from LAX. Since UA allows a stop over, I would like to add another destination with non stop flight from CPT. I plan to stay at 2nd destination for about a week or so with day trips from there.

Main criteria is great climate meaning no or very little rain. Not interested in the beach resort. Perhaps, New Zealand or Europe.

I did Istanbul for mine. Pick anywhere in S Europe. Or Rio.

I doubt the system will allow you to stop over in NZ on your way to SA. My stopover suggestions are Morocco, Europe and Istanbul.
